Hard reeds are well suited for duduk players and students who want to produce the famous, quality sound of the Armenian duduk.
If you’re looking to create that deep, rich and velvety sound that is midway between bright and dark, then this is the reed that you want.
Hard reeds are difficult to play when new and have a breaking-in period where they need to be developed over time. With practice and wear, you’ll be able to play them with less effort and better control with your embouchure.
As they mature, hard reeds can become more stable in pitch and sound.
Practicing with hard reeds for 5 to 15 minutes a day will help students further develop their embouchure.
These reeds are best suited for intermediate, advanced, and of course professional duduk players.

Dudukhouse strives to provide an accurate description of our reeds, based on our professional judgment and experience. However, when arriving at your location the reeds may have different sound qualities due to the humidity and temperature differences. As an organic product reeds can be influenced by these factors. At this time, there is no known method to ensure reed quality consistency around the world to prevent different environments from affecting the reeds.
With this being considered, Dudukhouse guarantees that all reeds have been thoroughly tested by an experienced duduk musician in our Toronto location. All reeds are tested, packed, and sent with care, love, and respect for our customers and fellow musicians.
